Nursery #2

Okay, all, here are some pictures from Hayden's nursery. I'm not going to put a caption with them, but you can also see them on Facebook. Enjoy! I feel like we're finally getting there! There are some small details left to take care of, but they'll come.

Nursery

Okay, so no pictures because I'm absolutely exhausted! We've been working on the nursery (thanks a million for your help, mom!) and David's been working on the yard. Our house is an absolute disaster. There just aren't enough hours in the day. This coming weekend I have class (my last one!!! FINALLY!) in Hattiesburg, then the next weekend is my sister-in-law's wedding shower at our house, then I might have another baby shower the next weekend (Easter weekend and my sister and nephew will be here). Then we're down to about 3 weeks! Yikes!

We had a baby shower yesterday given by my parents' church---the church family I grew up in. We were very blessed. Definitely no more clothing or blankets, though, please! We got our AL diaper bag from my mother-in-law, our elephant bouncer/rocker, and a tummy time playmat...along with a ton of other items. April 1 is my shower that some wonderful teacher friends have put together for us at the school. At the risk of sounding selfish, I do hope we receive lots of gift cards or the last items on our registry. We especially need linens (crib/bassinet sheets), bottles for me to store (I think only women besides my husband read this) milk in when I have to be away from Hayden, toys/teething items/etc., diapers (always), and a few other things. Selfishly, I still want the mobile for his crib, the lamp (if not the whole thing, then the shade that matches and I can buy a base), his initials for over the crib, covers for the Boppy, a Bumbo, and other decorative touches. I really am amazed at how things have come together thus far. I'll work on getting pictures soon!

Big Foot

We are 33 weeks and 4 days along, folks! At our drs. visit today, we had our last ultrasound. Sigh. Of course, Hayden wouldn't give us a good face shot, but he's absolutely beautiful. He's 4 lbs. 13 oz. which is wonderful! Just perfect. His head is round and his heart and lungs are strong. Oh, and we also checked to make sure it was definitely still a HE and not, by some surprise, a SHE! Hayden's definitely ALL boy! Yea! The NP said that should I go into labor any time after 37 weeks, they won't stop it. But so far, everything's been perfect. I'm still sleeping, though dreaming...alot. We only got 2 pictures today, and they quality isn't great (I don't have a scanner. Sorry!), but you can see one foot and then an attempt at a face picture. The ultrasound tech said that it looks like he has big feet---Ainsworth feet! Oh, and he's head down, which is exactly where he should be!

Shrek

Ahhh, 8th graders. Today one of my students Jordan passed me in the hallway and said, "Mrs. Ainsworth! You look like a beautiful Shrek!" Granted, I'm wearing a green cotton maternity dress, and yes, perhaps I can act like an ogre, but must I really be Shrek? So I replied, "Shrek?! I don't even get to be Fiona?!!?" Honestly, couldn't I at least be the female ogre? At least she was a princess underneath. Jordan's comment actually really made my day and caused a good laugh.

Happy Anniversary to us! 2 years! Crazy. And we'll be parents by Mother's Day! Tomorrow we get to see Hayden and how much he's grown. Not too sound arrogant, but I must just carry babies (at least this one) well. So many of my friends/co-workers are due AFTER me and are massive and waddling. Thankfully, I'm big but I can still fit through a doorway (oooh, sorry, I just realized how bad "massive" probably really sounded; oops. No offense. You know what I mean.) and unless I'm completely exhausted (or too full!), I'm not waddling yet!

Quick Post

This is just a quick update on what's going on. David and I are spending this week trying to get the nursery in order so as we have showers we can put items in their place!

We went to Memphis this weekend and were blessed to be surrounded by friends. Our former SS class surprised us with a shower yesterday morning and we received some great items. As soon as I can take pictures and write about them I will.

On Wednesday we go back to the dr. We'll get to see Hayden for the final time before he's born. Dr. Sams will also guesstimate his weight and check his position. I can't wait to see baby boy again!

Oh, and tomorrow is our 2nd anniversary! Yea for 2 years!

A Day Away

I'm one day away from a very needed break from the Coast. David and I are going to Southaven/Memphis this weekend to see our friends and celebrate our second anniversary a few days early. Hard to believe it's been 2 years since our wedding and less than 2 months til our baby boy arrives. Things are finally falling into place with that. We have furniture and most of our bigger pieces. Of course, there's still all the decorating, bath stuff, toiletries, bottles, socks, etc. stuff to get and do. But thanks to wonderful friends and co-workers, we have 3 showers approaching.

It's been an interesting week. It's 9 weeks test time, so let me recap the past few days. I created what I thought was a great unit on poetry, only to be interrupted by tests, so that's been put on hold. Tuesday I had a female student come to school drunk (c'mon, you're an 8th grader!!). Today was testing, and if you've ever taken a scantron test, you know they have spots A-E for answers. So if you have more answer options than 5, you can create combinations like AB. Simple enough, right? I suppose you can guess that that was an option today. I can't tell you how many times I heard, "Mrs. Ainsworth, what do we do with this? AB? How do we mark that?" Well, my dear children, you mark BOTH A and B. My children are dense. It's like they've never taken a test before on a scantron. Jeepers. I absolutely wanted to scream today. Of all things to not understand, THAT was it? Okay, so we're also undergoing SACS evaluations---meaning, if we're not accredited by SACS, diplomas mean diddly-squat from St. Martin. It's a big deal. And with our students' grades on their district assessments, we're not allowed to show movies or have parties. We have plenty we need to be covering. But here's my issue--my whole week has been shot with exam review, 2 days of testing, and next week I'm losing between 3-4 days to MCT practice testing. So again, no more poetry unit. I have 2 classes who tested today, so I have a wasted day tomorrow and can't show a movie. Thus, it's still a wasted day because what's the point in teaching one day of a unit no one will remember when I'll lose 4 days following it. Anyway. It's been a long week.

I hate MS day/weekend

Ahhh, yesterday. Yesterday I had a complete meltdown. We're talking I hated everything. I especially hated south Mississippi. Coastal life has changed dramatically, particularly since Katrina. We also got a taste of a different lifestyle when we lived in Desoto County. So to come back to a "barren" landscape with very little to do has been, well, different. Obviously. And with preparing for a baby, extra money is nonexistent some months, and that's okay. I also had to go to my class in Hattiesburg for my alternate route license. Yesterday was #8 of 9. My very last one is March 28, when I will drive an hour and a half, be presented with a certificate of completion, and then drive another hour and a half home. Joy. That news just did not sit well with me. On top of everything else going on, primarily being tired, I received word from David that our lovely cat Tyrone help his phone take a dip in his cup of tea. The result? A completely dead phone. So the money we had planned to use this month for a dresser for the nursery was gone because we had to replace a phone. We didn't have a choice. He needs it for work and we have no house phone. So it's kinda like we're back to square one with about 7 weeks to go until Hayden gets here. It's simply frustrating. I had a rough week at school, and this weekend was just not filled with good news.

On the flip side, this afternoon we took family maternity pictures. I'm very interested to see how they turn out. We had a slight clothing crisis in getting ready, but hopefully, the results are good.

31 Weeks
